Notice of Candidates for the Board of Directors

SUMIDA CORPORATION would like to announce that the Nomination Committee resolved the following eight (8) candidates for the Board of Directors. The membership as director will take effect subject to the approval of shareholders at the coming 64th Term Annual General Meeting of Shareholders scheduled for March 24, 2019.

<Reasons for the election of candidate nominated for outside director> 
Ms. Masako Miyatake has accumulated a wealth of experience as an international lawyer over many years.  She currently works as a lawyer with accumulated expertise in the fields of international transactions, finance, corporate governance and litigation and arbitration. The Company proposed her as a candidate for outside director because it expects her to oversee and check management based on her insight which is especially informed by her experience in cross-border transactions and her global perspective. The Company judges she will appropriately fulfill her duties as an outside director based on the above reasons.

Mr. Tatsuo Umemoto has accumulated a wealth of international experience as a management consultant and corporate executive over many years.  He has played leading roles in the launches of multiple companies, including Starbucks Coffee Japan, Ltd., and he currently works as an advisor in various fields and as a Specially Appointed Professor at Graduate School of Rikkyo University.  The Company proposed him as a candidate for outside director because it expects him to oversee and check management based on his insight which is especially informed by his experience in business strategy, business planning, new business development, organization personnel, competency development, and marketing and branding.
